Universität Wien (UNIVIE)

Prof. Markus Aspelmeyer

The University of Vienna was founded in 1365. It is the oldest university among the German-speaking countries and the largest teaching/research institution in Austria. The Faculty of Physics is ranked among the world's top 75 Physics Departments and has an international reputation in fields such as quantum physics research, computational physics and numerical relativity.

Research in the Aspelmeyer group combines the development of new quantum technologies with fundamental quantum experiments. The main activities of the group include quantum optical control of solid-state nano- and micro-mechanical devices, the exploration of their quantum properties for fundamental questions and novel quantum technology platforms, as well as micromechanical measurements of weak gravitational forces.
