Università degli Studi di Camerino (UNICAM)

Prof. David Vitali

Established in 1336, the University of Camerino is one of the oldest universities in Italy.

Prof. David Vitali leads the Quantum Optics and Quantum Information group which carries out research in many sub-fields of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Theory. He has been one of the pioneers in the study of quantum effects in optomechanical systems, suggesting the possibility to utilize microresonators for quantum information processing. The group also has an experimental activity in Cavity Optomechanics. The laboratory of Prof. Vitali consists of a 50m2 optical test and measurement lab, including a dilution fridge cryostat and a liquid He cryostat, and a second test and measurement lab of 50 m2. The group presently consists of 5 senior co-workers (postdoctoral or senior scientist level) and 6 PhD students.
